7. My husband and I received excellent rates on a 'Moderate' room on the Diamond Head side at the New Otani.

8. Be forwarned, the regular rooms are TINY, but the rates are so reasonable you can get a junior suite for the cost of a deluxe room at most other properties.

The hotel has a helpdesk with a very friendly person who provides you with as much information as you need about places to visit, activities to do during your stay, etc. The hotel has a parking area ($23/day) but if you don't want to pay the daily rate you could safely park your car on the street (there's plenty of free parking on the opposite side of Kapiolani park).

10. The location and proce for this hotel (summer rate of 190/night) seemed like a good price, but I stayed in the section overlooking the park with microwave and fridge and it was definitely dated.
