1. Coffee and tea are complimentary and served every morning from about 6am to 10am, as is a breakfast, which is reasonably priced around $12.

2. The hotel Tolbard next door looked nice but was very busy; we ended up at the equally busy and reasonable Luna Grill a block & a half away--great coffee & benedicts with hand-cut homefries.

6. I picked the Topaz for a number of reasons: (1) Great location, (2) reasonable price, including free valet parking for all hybrid vehicles, and (3) It is pet friendly.

7. The rooms and beds are wonderfully comfortable, the staff are lovely, enthusiastic and helpful, and the location is prime for DC, especially given the reasonableness of the rates (with a few notable exceptions during high-season).
