The Mason Beach Inn felt like it was skimming on the price point of the neighborhood, without giving much more than a modernized Motel 6 provides (we stayed at three different Motel 6's on this same trip, near Disneyland and up north off I-5, and were much happier with those due to their value for the money).

7. Our room opened right up to outside compared to most of the rooms which were located in the indoor hallways; I liked the outdoor location which was right next to the elevator and stairs but was still quiet.

9. So it's possible my husband and two small children (under 4) got bitten as well and they just don't have reactions to the bites like I do.

10. However, I would expect the hotel staff to act like they care about their guests, take ownership of the problem, apologize, assure us they will take the necessary precautions (ie bed bug dog inspection, pest control company inspection), and give us some or all of our money back.
