5. They had originally assigned us to a room on the ground floor that was facing the pool and when we expressed our reservations about this, they did their absolute best to try to find us another room that we thought would be quieter.

We only stayed one night in Santa Barbara en route to LA, so we looked at a couple of motels and hotels in the area (don`t be afraid to ask to see the room and then go take a look at others nearby - the first one you see usually isn`t the best value, or it may even help you to barter the price if it isn`t peak season).
