1. 95 or free for Gold and Platinum members)- Nice lounge area and pool area; seemed to be fairly lively- Very convenient to Interstate 5 (about a minute)- There are a few good restaurants as well as a Vons supermarket 5-7 minutes away by car (turn right when exiting the hotel, go past the interstate and keep going on El Camino Real and you get into a very upscale suburban Torrey Pines/Del Mar area and will see the Vons shopping center)- Very close drive to Del Mar and Solana Beach areas- Fairly convenient (15 minutes) to La JollaThe bad:- There is almost nothing within walking distance - the hotel is in an office park area- There is a bad restaurant (Tio Leos -- something like that) which is within walking distance -- but I tried it and do not recommend it- Hotel restaurant (Arterra) is decent but overpriced; service was also slow and somewhat unprofessional- If you need to go to San Diego (downtown), this isn't the ideal place to stay; count on about 25 minutes or more if there is a traffic problem- Hotel seems to cater to a lot of business conferences; attracts a certain type of person (as one reviewer aptly pointed out, the lounge is full of sleazy, narcissistic business men and gold-digger women -- and perhaps ditto business women and gold-digging men)- Not really the best choice for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, unless you needed/wanted to be close to Del Mar; better suited for business travel- The doors make very loud sound when opening and closing; halls can be loud -- bring ear plugs if you don't want to be awakened early- Parking is ample (covered deck) but expensive -- $20 per night.

2. The Hampton Inn next door is a bit better value and seemed clean (no parking fee, free breakfast and slightly lower rate) but the Marriott definitely has a nicer property.

3. 4) No free wi-fi, amigos, but that's par for the course for all Marriott properties.

5. The Doubletree across the street had free parking so I was a bit irked by the parking fees.

6. If you do, there are many empty business parks in the area and a Double-Tree hotel across the street which always provides free parking for its guests.

7. If you have a car I would recommend the Hampton Inn across the street with free Parking.

8. Pros:- inexpensive- good happy hour prices (everyday - even weekends)- pool area looked nice- nice gym w/free water- flat screen tv in roomCons:- $18 a night garage parking (we parked on the street before you enter the hotel and saved the $18)- small rooms- no free wifi- breakfast buffet (even though it was free) was not good ($20 a person)- no refrigerator in the room- the hotel lost power 2 times- WORST OF ALL - my husband was taking a shower and the water stopped - just stopped in the middle of the shower.
