3. The Jupiter is part of the hipster boutique hotel trend - revamp an old motor lodge/Holiday Inn with Danish Modern/Mid-Century style decor, add a quirky theme and generally eschew the experience of chain hotels - but here in Portland it works.

6. The staff can be hit or miss (it's hard to be young and cool), but my experience with the desk was that I found the service to be generally pleasant and helpful.

7. We were awakened about every two hours by inanely stupid conversations right outside our window by fellow guests returning from their revels, and when we`d get up to ask the clueless offenders to keep it down, we were generally kindly obliged--for about a minute or two.
