1. I was told by a customer service rep that I could change my reservation from an expensive non-refundable rate to a cheaper refundable rate at any point 7 days before my stay with no problems.

2. There's a parking garage across the street from the hotel which is cheaper -- I'd recommend doing that instead of the valet.
