1. Carpet looked like it hadn't been vaccumed in weeks, mold all over the shower curtain, grime and someone else's hairs on the bathroom counter, huge spider webs and a ton of dust on top of curtain/window, and just general 'dirtier than acceptable' room this time.

3. You might want to check if huge events (like the SXSW music festival) will be happening while you're there -- apparently the hotel can be crowded and noisy at such times.

The Plaza was novel (in this "discount" category) in its size, ameneties (both in-room--such as "nonsmoking" option, hairdryer, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, free local telephone calls, & great cable channel selection, and outside--such as the huge, beautiful, sparkling clean pool and fountain in separate courtyards, & plentiful parking spaces close to our room), cleanliness & friendliness of staff.
