5. Overall, the hotel was a bit pricey (so we stayed mid-week and moved elsewhere for the weekend), but it's an excellent homebase for exploring South Congress on foot.

Across the street from the legendary Continental Club (a good friend, Roger One Night, once owned it,) down the street from my favorite Guero's Taco Bar and right next door to Jo's -- where I always enjoy a late weekend breakfast with excellent coffee outside -- the San Jose is a perfect fit for me.
