8. Sure, it could have been fireworks, or even a car backfire, but with the variety of seedy characters coming and going, as well as the preexisting reputation the hotel appears to have for prostitution and drug dealing, I honestly wasn't even surprised to hear something like a gunshot.

10. The obligatory fixtures of cheap hotel rooms abound, including but not limited to low grade carpeting, floral pattern drapes and bedding, mass produced oil paintings of soothing, middle of the road imagery like seascapes, forests, rural farmland, etc.
