1. All the staff, from valet parking attendant to bellman were solicitous but the Front Desk agent was especially hospitable and made sure that we had a superb room and courteously offered many helpful suggestions to ensure a pleasant stay.

2. Even closer to the water is a pleasant Roof Garden with fabulous views and you can take your wine there too.

The pluses are many--lovely room service from Cafe Campagne(bit cheesy),Marche, and Basso(delicious fruit smoothies), great water pressure in the 6th floor room, super comfortable bed with nice linens, fantastic location, right on top of Pike Street Market, windows that open, quiet hotel, pleasant staff.

5. Also, I was a little concerned about security: we had a friend visit us -- he's a 60-year-old artist who looks like a 60-year-old artist, perhaps best-described as pleasant but a little scruffy -- I gave him the room number, expecting he'd be asked who he was visiting.
