1. We were upgraded free to ocean view on the end of Building 1 and loved the room, overlooking a little pond with ocean views (across the parking lot but you can shell out the big bucks for ocean front if you want, we saved a bunch paying about $120 a night).

2. We were on the side overlooking a big open field (as opposed to the poolside) so it was also nice and quiet, for the most part.

3. The grounds are understated but very nice and clean - definitely not the Disneyland type landscaping you might see at some other big resorts.

4. If you want to be around people with big diamonds, plastic surgery and designer bags I suggest the Hyatt also.

5. The rooms are clean and comfortable if not a bit on the small side for a resort (not small- just not as spacious as some other big name hotels) The pools are large and there are several lava rock surrounded hot tubs to enjoy.

6. Overall we would stay here again; although we're not big 'resort' people, it was in such a central location to explore all of Kauai.

8. The hotel was really convenient to most of the island since it's halfway between the big tourist destinations on the north and south side of the island.

9. The restaurant and bar were also nice in the hotel and we got a big bottle of champagne for our honeymoon stay.
