8. It is in a business-type district of Detroit so because it was a weekend, there was nothing open (including the gas station) On the plus side, this meant the area was very quiet at night.

While the occasion for my visit to Detroit was not ideal (I had to take an all-day certification exam), having the opportunity to stay at the Doubletree Detroit Downtown made my trip that much easier and gave me a leg up for the exam after a perfect night's sleep in the spacious and quiet room and after a great breakfast at the restaurant downstairs.
