2. The hotel was great: gift basket in the small kitchen waiting for me, everything was nice and clean and tastefully cozy, hotel was very near the beach, the staff was friendly and very pleasant (gave good tips on dining when I asked), the bathroom was beautiful (cloth shower curtain.

The intimacy of the building (it felt like an old-time motel from the 50's), the comfort and quietness of the room (so great not to have "hotel" furniture) and the kindness of the staff (I could see they were concerned when I took off on the bike), all came together to make this probably the best vacation I've had in years.
