1. ) and extremely clean, bed was comfortable and so nice to sleep in, the kitchen was well equiped (not extensive but everything I needed for my short stay - coffee maker, toaster, plates, cups, glasses, etc.

The intimacy of the building (it felt like an old-time motel from the 50's), the comfort and quietness of the room (so great not to have "hotel" furniture) and the kindness of the staff (I could see they were concerned when I took off on the bike), all came together to make this probably the best vacation I've had in years.
