1. The view just kept getting better and better as we moved up in the building.

2. We enjoyed Hawaii very much, and it is lovely that this hotel is on the beach, but we spent a lot of time wishing we had paid a little more for a better hotel.

3. We went to Waikiki for the first time on our 40th wedding anniversary and when we got in at 12am we took our rental car to the Aston Waikiki Beach hotel where we attempted to check in - but alas they had no reservation for us - checked with the Beach side and there we were so went over a block or two and checked in there - the first appearances were very disappointing , tiny room , tiny tv, worn furniture and the look of a beat down 30's or 40's style formerly grand hotel - we had a ocean view room on the 8th floor and as such had a lanai - but as with all things the place grew on us - right in the heart of Waikiki , within walking distance of the international market , ABC market right next door, Starbucks down the street and the beach across the street - although the rooms were a bit haggard they were clean ( no bugs ) and the beds were comfy - if they had wifi and a small breakfast it would have made things a bit better but the vale parking was super and we had a beautiful time exploring the paradise that is Hawaii.

4. I would be prepared to stay there again if I was able to secure the same or better rooms and still pay a very competitive nightly rate.

5. Although both rooms (on the 6th and 9th floors) were small and needed renovating, they were better than what I thought.

6. You are better off leaving your clothes in your own suite cases rather than placing them in the drawers, I ran my finger across a drawer before I was going to place my clothes in, it was covered with dust and what looked to be crumbs.

7. Furniture a bit dated and the chair in our room had seen better days i just put a towel over it.

8. We complained, they said this was a problem with all ocean side units, they moved us but other room no better.
"Don't confuse this hotel with the Aston Waikiki beach hotel!!! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/21/2011 Vote
9. Aston took over from Aqua in the last year, and perhaps has calculated that keeping rates low for shoebox-size rooms and 17' tube TVs is a better bet than spending on a renovation and amenities.
"shabby chic, almost, but lovable " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/21/2011 Vote
10. hire a handy man for half a day and you'll make a much better first impression.
