The room also had some of those telltale issues when it comes to 'historic' hotels, like wallpaper
peeling
off in the corners of the room.

The decor is old and dirty, and the wallpaper is
peeling
(although the rooms are supposedly being renovated).

The beige and dowdy decor featuring chipped reproduction furniture,
peeling
wallpaper, plastic draw shades and a loud cooling system was not exactly a welcome respite from a busy day of meetings.

Also got the clerk to admit that the bathrooms were pretty much all that has been done and that the furniture had "not been delivered" (probably hadn't been ordered either)The bathroom renovations apparently didn't have quality craftsmanship as the wall covering in this bathroom was already
peeling
.

Picky people (like me) will notice the details: hair on the bathroom floor when we got there, so it obviously wasn`t ours, bathtub finish was
peeling
, wallpaper was bubbling &
peeling
in places.

I expected the Hilton in downtown Milwaukee to be very much like the old hotels I used to get stuck in when I had to travel to Chicago in the 1980`s -- small dark rooms, odd smells,
peeling
wallpaper, etc.
