2. Let's start by saying that I like 'European style' hotels, and I chose to ignore the bad reviews for this hotel because some of them smacked of people who wouldn't like an older hotel no matter what.

4. Negatives: Though our room was adequate in terms of size and facilities, and the bed was reasonably comfortable, the room did smell badly of stale cigarette smoke.
