They are obsessed with their 'special' keys at this place, $5 key deposit which MUST be paid by credit card, on departure they refund the card back, OK it's a bit silly but no cost to me I guess, but if you were a foreign visitor paying a hefty card transaction fee every time, I suspect I'd get a little annoyed at these little pointless transactions, and surely it's costing the hotel a fair bit in Visa/M'card charges as well? So stop doing it or just take cash deposits?.
