1. We got to our room and there was a thick layer of dust/dirt on the carpet around all the furniture, including crumbs beside the bed.

2. ok the rooms are small, the windows are a bit grotty and the windowsill in the bathroom was a bit moldy but it was dirt cheap for its location.

3. Obviously that part doesn't speak to the dirt level, but it really gave the place a sketchy feel.

4. dirt on the carpets in the corners, the carpets were literally threadbare, the paint was peeling off of the ceiling a lot, and in the hallway were just extra pieces of furniture that were clearly supposed to go in rooms, including lamps with no shades.
