1. Some people complain the hotel is not in the middle of the city, but it is just one block from the beautiful City Hall, and the the hop-on hop-off tour bus has a stop right in front of the hotel, which saved us a ton of money on cabs since these buses run every 20 minutes sharp and go all around the city center.

2. We had a noise problem every night of our stay and I finally had to call the desk to complain about someone rummaging through the dumpster on the street and tossing bottles into a shopping cart.

3. The staff was nice, but obfuscated whenever I complained, such as their claim that the Internet service was 'slow' at certain hours because so many people were tapping into it from outside the hotel.

4. We found the staff to be great and helpful, one our first morning we complained about our shower head (it just dribbled) to Rowena (front desk) and when we returned from our first day of wandering around sight seeing, a new one was on, that worked perfectly.

5. Some reviews I read before going to SF complained about the size of the rooms, I think you must understand that it's more of a boutique hotel with a cute old elevator and a charming building, but we didn't find it confining or run down.

8. Tiny lobby, big hearted staff, we loved the guy who parked our car and took care of us, the delightful concierge who printed out a huge list of vintage shops for me and the woman who made up for the tiny rooms we too big people complained about.
