Add this to noisy HVAC (hard to sleep through) and cheapness (you only get two cups of coffee, not the customary four) and the overall sense is

The only thing I can think of that is

is that there are not really any restaurants or shops right in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, which overlooks a freeway.
