1. there is a bit of sand but alot of lava rock, as well as sea urchins, so shoes or sandals/slippers are a good idea.

2. Read the fine print folks, the oceanside units are on the ocean, duh, and you will hear the ocean waves constantly crashing on the rocks, we loved it.

4. Turtles cruise this whole coastline, so check out any rocky patch and you will probably find some green sea turtles, grazing on the algae on the rocks.

7. It was a beautiful 4 bedroom/3 bath unit on the 4th floor (the top floor) with a HUGE balcony overlooking the ocean, lava rocks, and tidepools.

9. 3 miles away, but the Kona bali kai is on a beautiful strech of rocky beach, both mornings i was there i had 6 turtles right out my window on the rocks and in the tide pool.
