2. We were looking forward to staying at the new Hilton in San Diego as our previous visit to this lovely city was also marred by the disappointing stay we had earlier in the year at the Hilton Gaslamp (which internally is no improvement on a mediocre 3 star hotel).

3. Breakfast at Vela's is charged at $23 a person and is by far the most mediocre buffet I have ever had.

4. Cocktails in the Bayfront's upstairs Odysea are mediocre (even though made from supposedly organic ingredients) and the dimpsum options are limited (beef and mushrrom); our drink was supposed to contain champagne but the bubbles must have escaped between the bar and our table because I didn't see or taste any.
