1. The rooms were dank, the furniture was old and damaged, the towel rail was hanging off the wall in the bathroom and the TV was scratched.

2. The rooms we were allocated were near the ice machine (noisy), smelled of smoke (or something else) and one of the doors had previously been 'jemmied' open and been repaired but the damage could still be seen.
