4. We have visited this hotel 27 of past 31 yrs--we are 16-20 handicap golfers-hotel was closed for 2 1/2 yrs to repair earthquake damage---the hotel is much more expensive than in past--they have done very little to Beachfront rooms while spending huge amounts on 7th and 8th fl rooms making 2 rooms for every 3 in past--restaurants are much more expensive with same food--service was good but that may have been because of 30-35% occupancy--we are golfers and play every day--spent 16 days there--course is now so hard it is unpleasant to play--traps/bunkers are now 6-8 ft deep everywhere--greens are slanted and tiered so 3 and 4 putts are not unusual--cost to play golf as a hotel guest has gone from $120 per day to $240--that's $480 per day per couple--out of our league and we usually spend $700-800 a day when we go to a resort--hard to recommend to go that far--airline used to be $900 RT from East Coast now $1600 plus $600 to upgrade with miles and cash--out of sight.
