The immediate area around the hotel is basically a business district,
unfortunate
ly in some immediate areas its a slum -- abandoned buildings, shady bars, low-rent liquor stores, etc.

ly a few blocks off of Canal Street (a main road) and too far inland (where there are less people and not alot of action).
