2. The check in staff had to do double duty as concierge and they were not as connected and well versed as a normal Ritz concierge would be, however, they were always pleasant to work with despite providing minimal service.

5. Check-in was a joy as I sat down in front of a sweet young lady and learned a little about the hotel's history as an incinerator and the designer's idea to keep fire as a theme throughout the hotel.

7. They do have to improve on the 'personal' experience that they are trying to show us during check in.

8. when we arrived i was a little taken aback by the relatively austere lobby - there is no grand check in desk, just 2 one person desks to greet you, no high ceilings and chandeliers.

9. I had the misfortune of falling ill while at the Ritz and I was genuinely moved by the way everyone from the concierges, to the front desk, the bell stand, housekeeping, and even room service felt the need to check-in on me.
