1. Of course, you pay far less for staying in a PDX-area hotel than you would in downtown, and w/Portland's light rail going into Cascade Station (next to PDX), it's reasonable quick and pain-free to get downtown (or elsewhere).

Free internet, free parking, free breakfast add $60 to the value over a downtown address, so if you can't snag a four-star downtown Portland on Priceline for under $100, then book into the Fairfield for $100 and enjoy your extra $60 you'd pay downtown on a great dinner for 2 at Andinos or Persia House.
