Free internet, free parking, free breakfast add $60 to the value over a downtown address, so if you can't snag a four-star downtown Portland on Priceline for under $100, then book into the Fairfield for $100 and enjoy your extra $60 you'd pay downtown on a great dinner for 2 at Andinos or Persia House.

7. The bad: location is rather isolated, and it was not easy to grab a late dinner, any last minute toiletries, or even a tank of gas without having to drive a few miles.
