6. We did rent a car for two days but avoided paying the steep $21/night parking garage charge as we found metered parking right outside of the hotel on the street (it is free between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. I believe).

7. And its so convenient to everything Portland, from the beautiful waterfront/marina area, bike trails, the street car (which is free in downtown) that will take you to downtown, the Pearl District, Northwest Portland, etc. We had dinner on the waterfront, rented bikes, walked all over.
