2. I took pictures of the bedbugs and took them down to the front desk and checked out a little after 2 am, I was advised that in order to get a refund on my room I would have to speak with the manager on Monday.

4. The manager was combative and rude initially (in fact, she also told me that since I had booked online, even though it was at the Country Inn and Suites website, sometimes you had to deal with booking inaccuracies -- which is an unacceptable response and nothing more than a meaningless excuse), but when I explained the circumstances she finally agreed to refund 50% of our booking cost, and also offered to have housekeeping change the bed linens in order to improve the smell of the room.

5. The manager refused to speak to me, and told the staff that we couldn't have 'even a couple of dollars' refunded because 'when you book online, sometimes this happens.

6. I explained to the desk staff that my son has asthma and if we weren't moved I would need a refund of at least part of my booking price due to the discomfort the room's foul smell would cause for my family.

I called the front desk expecting some solution [not necessarily a refund--since I'd already paid for the room in cash, of course I was prepared to pay for my hotel stay] and the manager [Kathy] expressed that they "checked for bed bugs every month" and that all the bedding, including the duvets and pillows, were laundered after every guest checks out.
