1. I am heartened by the fact that I got the room at more than half off regular rates through the negotiation website, however if I had paid full price, I would be at the front desk complaining about the stay.

8. Our flight got cancelled the next day and we could not stay a second night at the same rate - so we booked over at the Renaissance (which was more luxurious in my opinion) and used one of the name-your-price sites.
