1. The exterior is older and pretty campy, which can lead to an 'unsafe' or 'seedy' atmosphere I guess in comparison to the Hilton (which is right across the street) but this place has been around since the 1950s.

2. Yes, the exterior decor is kitschy and dated, but the hotel itself, the staff, and the incredible price are well worth any small drawbacks.
