1. Small, friendly hotel right in heart of San Francisco, close to Union Square so within walking distance of BART and tourist spots like Pier 39 etc. Walk there and get the tram back.

Good: near to Union SquareBad: right next to Tenderloin - the notorious area where you should not walk at night AND hotel did not reply me after 3, 4 times chasers regarding my request to check on the lost shipment (forgot some clothes there, hotel sent to me but I've never received it after close to 4 months now despite I had paid for the shipping).
