2. We have just returned from a week at the Beekmam hotel and will start with the pros ideal location, great little diner over the road for a good breakfast, friendly staff everything we needed in the room including equipped kitchen, clean sheets and towels fab view off the area and we liked the quaintness of the 50s style of the lobby and elevator music, but and its a big but if you want beautifully decorated rooms finished to a good spec and you are piccy when it comes to finishing details under no circumstance book this hotel diy and general up keep are not a priority but we have had a great week in manhatten.

3. The building has a lot of character, it is a landmark, which desparately (!) needs a makeover, except for the lobby and the rooftop restaurant (great views, nice staff).
"Must have once been a nice hotel " Read full review on TripAdvisor   10/14/2011 Vote

6. Nothing appears to be Art Deco like the hotel lobby - the furniture (colonial in style - cherry stain, ornate) and the colors (olive green, cranberry, etc.) are very traditional and ugly.
"Did not live up to others' reviews " Read full review on TripAdvisor   5/31/2010 Vote
7. Initial impression of the lobby was nice, nothing overly fancy, but nice enough.

8. Friendly helpful Reception and Porters;a must is the great views from 26th Top of Tower but as all food has to come from 1st floor don`t expect the food to match(or service);reasonably priced especially given location though this may change when renovations currently underway are completed;animal friendly;myself and many colleagues found the airconditioning noisy and/or ineffective;the inroom kitchen facilities are great esp if one is staying awhile ;the internet service is very poor; another must is the art deco including the brickwork in the East Tower lobby;rooms large and clean.
"Fantastic UN Location " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/14/2007 Vote
9. Average: furnishings a bit dated but nice, no doorman (troublesome when carrying luggage though two sets of double doors at the entry) but some other hotels in this price range do not have doormen either, okay lobby.
"Mixed bag: clean but dated " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/28/2012 Vote
10. The lobby is pure Art Deco though quite small.
"Great bargain in the winter, just avoid the restaurant " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/8/2012 Vote
