We just preferred to see and hear the gorgeous
ocean
for the same price.

For golfers, the adjoining Experience at Koele golf course is a treat, as is the Challenge at Manele located a 20-minute shuttle ride away along the
ocean
.

With just 102 rooms and at an elevation of 2,000+ feet above sea level, the Lodge is more reminiscent of a gentlement's hunting lodge than the sun-swept,
ocean
-oriented resorts more typical for our Aloha State.

If you're not the type to enjoy the cold, all you need to do is catch the shuttle to the Manele Bay hotel and sit by the pool, or go for a swim in the
ocean
; two totally different climates on one island.

If you're looking for a place with a lively pool scene, or if you need to be right next to the

For those traveling thousands of miles to be near the
ocean
, Koele might not appeal to them because they would want to be right on the beach.

Fantastic golfing where you can golf at Manele Bay and have spectacular views of the
ocean
and then golf the Experience at Koele and feel like you are in the mountains with pine trees and 20 degrees cooler.

It's certainly not beachfront Hawaii -- although you can see the
ocean
from the front yard.
