Kona Tiki is basic, comfortable, convenient to everything, and for the
cost
, truly a gem on the Big Island.

I really don't know how much an ocean front room can
cost
, but this one is amazing for $100 per night.

The breakfast is nice -- a lovely array of fresh fruits, cerals, rolls, breads, jams, etc. It
cost
s about $100/night, so I may choose the Kona Seaside for less money and a slightly nicer room.

What we didn't like (and this will clearly vary season to season) is that the managers during our stay were not efficient, gave us unclear and essentially false information about the
cost
of booking activities through them (promised discounts that did not materialize, tried to steer us away from vendors we asked for, etc.).
"Great budget choice -- Take your chance on who's "managing" "

After all if it was modernized, then it would
cost
a lot more per night.

Considering the value of Kona Tiki (and the other hotel we stayed at - The Manago in Captain Cook) we came to realize that it is possible to take a trip to Hawaii including airfare from the US East Coast for not much more than the
cost
of a room rental for a summer week at a US East Coast beach.

Before you go to Hawaii, be prepared for sticker shock -- everything
cost
s about twice as much as on the mainland.
