1. It's not pretentious, the staff was helpful, the valet service was prompt, the prices of food and lodging were very acceptable.

2. The food was really, really good and the portions were huge to me (but then, I'm a girl!) There was a snow storm in the higher elevations when we were there and my friend and I were hoping to drive over to Reno, but the valet people were not very encouraging about the short trip and recommended several other things we could do.
