Okay, this is NOT an amazing hotel and it is NOT in Manhattan BUT if you are willing to sacrifice a little on the Manhattan dream then you'll be happy: it's only 10 min to the center of the city by subway and the subway stop is about 3 min
walk
to the hotel.

Allow about 30 minutes total time from when you leave the hotel to
walk
to the subway and take it into Times Square.

It is in a ""less than glamourous"" part of town, but I always felt safe and it was only a 5 min
walk
to the subway station.
