1. At first glance, the neighborhood does not look the best, but we arrived back late every night with no problem walking from the subway to the hotel.

The hotel is right next door to a McDonald's (with 24-hour drive-thru window), two blocks from a 24-hour diner (we ate there once---a dependable place), three blocks from a CVS Drugstore, three blocks from a great wine/liquor store, and homey, neighborhood storefronts and restaurants sit along Queens Blvd.
