3. My husband and myself went jogging daily on the Santa Monica Beach, directly across the street, and some days we rented roller blades and bikes to cruise past the Santa Monica Pier.

4. The staff is friendly and helpful although sometimes more well-meaning than knowledgable (we were told that there was a bike rental place on the beach directly beneath the hotel when in fact that place -- directly beneath the hotel, mind you -- opens only in the summer).
