Overall, the US seems to do budget hotels really well, I have virtually always been satisfied with a range of hotels from a really cheap Knight's Inn in Pennsylvania through excellent Holiday Inn Expresses and recently a Candlewood Suites even Marriott Courtyards, but proper Five Star service seems to be sub-standard when compared with the best European or Asian hotels.
