I stayed with my family recently (with two young children, ages 3 and 6) in this hotel for a brief getaway, had a free Marriott Rewards night to burn and thought it would be
fun
to stay downtown.

Raleigh is not typically known as a happening downtown, but we ate at a nice restaurant, had beers afterward at a
fun
bar and ended the evening with a walk down a surprisingly vibrant Fayetteville Street.

Raleigh's main downtown is not exactly vibrant, but there certainly are cool,
fun
places, and the Glenwood South area is about a mile from the hotel.
