2. For us, this was no problem, and the hotel has the benefit of being out of the hustle & bustle of the party district--it feels calm & quiet.

Also, while we walked back to the hotel room twice - once during the day and once in the early evening - I'd probably do the shuttle (or taxi) next time in the evening as there weren't a lot of other folks out and about the last few blocks near the hotel (a little too quiet for me - safety in numbers you know).

7. I stayed in The Holiday Inn for 6nights in New Orleans its a good location if you want peace and quiet from the main strip on bourbon street which is full of bars and clubs which are open every night.
