I checked out and went a few blocks away to check into the Hilton Garden Inn, which was a much
better
option.

There were a few glitches that could be solved with

Breakfast is $10 - again, this is New Orleans and there are many
better
places to eat than any hotel restaurant.

At the time we were there, the lobby bar was applying for their liquor license, but was open (?) and had NCAA football on a flatscreen- this is New Orleans and there are many
better
places (within walking distance) to drink than any hotel bar.

The Hotel New Orleans is a grubby dump, though it could be so much
better
with even minimal effort.

The second was slightly
better
but everything is stained in this place and makes you wonder if anyone has done anything at all to get it clean.

They claimed that it was $10 without the ticket, but I can't believe anyone is coming in from outside to get breakfast there when the Marriott next door has a good restaurant with much
better
breakfasts.

It is not a safe walking distance to the French Quarter so your money would be
better
spent staying somewhere closer to the main areas with a staff that are more approachable and don't seem bothered by you being there making them have to do some work.
