1. Once I got a great room with new TV, new furniture, new heating/cooling system, and a bathroom that I could actually move around in.

2. The room itself far exceeded our expectations: down pillows and duvet; updated fixtures and furniture; large, flat-screen TV with all the cable you can imagine (unlike some ritzier hotels where the cable is limited to news and sports).

4. I don`t know about the new vs old section, but I guess if you thought you got a good bargain, you would probably end up in the old section.
