1. Or look into some of the local rentals on homeaway- they are also rather nice.

2. Allandale is pretty much the only neighborhood-located central north Austin hotel, but just a short jaunt (about 1 mile) north there is a rather nice Holiday Inn (though admittedly akward to get to), and another mile north of that a Hampton Inn that they have stayed at in the past and loved.

3. After getting out of the car, I passed the nice gentlemen drinking and smoking out of the pickup truck, and I arrived to my room.
