1. staff unusually friendly for this level of establishment, from the valet to desk to maids to restaurant--- the lobby bar was stylish and very comfortable, surprisingly large---- all in all, as i said, a real surprise in this category and i will certainly return- only negatives: not a quiet place if that is your major concern, $10 a nite to park, tho only $12 for valet.

2. i am a frequent business traveller, usually staying at hyatts and sheratons-- soulless but comfortable and no surprises-- wanted something less expensive and something about the menage caught my attention-- maybe just the french name-- it is not for every business traveler, tho, let me warn you-- but if you are tired of the dismal dreary vanilla experience of the corporate chains you should try this-- the red velvet 'business center' looked more like a bordello than any business center i have ever seen, but the computers were fast, easy, FREE, including the printing of boarding passes and the environment amusing-- FREE wi-fi throughout the property---- the property itself, being an old holiday inn, was not pleasantly designed (low ceilings, narrow passages) but the owners did a great job of making an ordinary room seem less so--- the somewhat stylish choice of fabrics on the bed, the carpet and drapes, newish flat screens-- none of those ridiculous cheap prints of low end chains-- room looked more like a sheraton than a days inn-- ask for a room facing east if you are a light sleeper, those facing west have more freeway noise and the unbelievably loud noise of the disneyland fireworks which you can see from many rooms and poolside--- a great show, that alone was worth the price of the room for me-- --- you can walk to disneyland from here and you are quite literally on the 5 at the corner of ball and harbor for easy access to anywhere--- attached restaurant offers room service, had great service, better than average food- world cuisine-- (i am a terrible food snob and can't say it was xlnt) but i would certainly eat there again).
