1. The hotel is a little older, but overall the stay was good.

2. The Spa area is very nice, and comfortable - the staff there is great, and the indoor pool is great, but can get a bit kid heavy at times (was the pool in Home Alone, so it is a kid magnet)We have stayed in all of the leading hotels in Chicago, and they are all pretty good.
